The Power of Hope

HopeThere is nothing more important than hope when we are dealing with our health and life challenges. This was the topic of my latest podcast interview with my very special guest, Dr. Mark Pochapin.聽Click hereto listen to the interview.

Dr. Pochapin is the president of the American College of Gastroenterology and also my younger brother. In this podcast episode he talks the critical role hope has played in caring for his patients. It is such a powerful message with lessons for all of us.

I will summarize a few of his key points, but I strongly suggest you聽listen to the interview聽to hear all of his great stories and experience the full impact of his words.

  1. There is ALWAYS hope. Hope should never be taken away because we never know when something new might be discovered and miracles do happen. Sometimes physicians in the process of telling a patient their prognosis inadvertently take away all hope.
  2. Kindness and gratitude make the world a better place.聽 Mark feels physicians should all be grateful for having the opportunity to change lives.
  3. Everyone is the same. Mark talks about doing a colonoscopy and through the colonoscope everyone is identical. When we think of how we are all similar rather than different, the world becomes a much warmer, kinder place.
  4. Mark talks about letting people help you when you are in need. People want to be there for you and accepting their support is one of the greatest gifts you can give another person.

I hope you enjoy this inspiring podcast episode and make sure to remember there is ALWAYS hope.
