When I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in my mid-40’s, I couldn’t believe it. How could a person so young have this problem? My doctor recommended that I meet with Margie Bissinger. Margie helped me re-design my diet to include a large variety of calcium-rich foods, explained to me what supplements and vitamins I should be taking to help with this issue, and got me started on building bone density through exercise. This was the most challenging aspect to me as I found it very difficult to stick to any exercise regime. Margie didn’t give up. I was diagnosed with pretty serious osteoporosis at a young age and my doctor gave me Margie Bissinger’s name. I not only needed exercises and diet guidance for osteoporosis but was also showing signs of low blood sugar; a bad family history and too many years as a sugar junkie was taking its toll. I had seen a few nutritionists but really didn’t click with them. However, right from the start I felt at ease with Margie’s gentle nature and patient approach. She helped me to slowly integrate a healthy daily routine. This helped me to not feel overwhelmed so I wouldn’t give up. The exercises were easy and every time I went back we added a few more, until we worked out a doable routine. I am the type to ask a lot of questions; she patiently answers everything and if she doesn’t know the answer she researches and gets the answer back to me, ASAP!
At every session I learned new exercises and we went over a food plan that I could manage. It became fun as we got to know one another and I felt comfortable discussing what worked and what didn’t. I was so frustrated in my efforts to lose weight! I tried and tried with good effort and intention, but only a few pounds would yield to my determined will.
