Today’s Quick Tip: Prevent Constipation While Traveling

April 5, 2016jenbreoadmin

Recently the New York Times had a blog about constipation while traveling. Several suggestions were presented.  I have two favorites that work for my clients.

1. Take magnesium citrate at night. My favorite product is called CALM by Natural Vitality. You can purchase single use packets that are perfect for traveling. Taking one packet in the evening will help prevent constipation and also relax you for a better night’s sleep. For more information on magnesium click here.

2. Sprinkle chia seeds on your food.  Chia seeds are a good source of fiber and help reduce constipation when taken with water. The Chia Company makes individual packets called Chia Shots that are very convenient for travel. For first timers trying chia, start with one shot a day and increase gradually. You can toss chia in your oatmeal, shakes, or even salads as long as you make sure to drink around eight ounces of water for each tablespoon of chia you consume.
